It’s Day three of the Holiday season, and our goal is still to be “in the Black”. Another day with a positive mindset. Get up. Be thankful. Live for another day. Our grief, our disappointments, and our failures do not define us. We can feel badly, cry, and grieve, but after the pity party is over, we must push through in order to achieve our greater. Get into the BLACK…The positive.
Taking the negative feelings, people, and things from 2021 into 2022 will have us starting 2022 in the negative. That will make it more difficult for us to get to the positive results. Our results can’t just include us. We have to bring other people with us. We all need a support system. Those we know whom are depressed and need to be uplifted during the holidays can’t be forgotten.
Unfortunately, depression, especially during the holidays can result in suicide. The truth, although uncomfortable, can’t continue to be the elephant in the room. When we don’t talk about it, we do those whom we love as well as ourselves, a disservice.
Myths about Suicide:
- SUICIDE IS NOT A SIGN OF WEAKNESS
- SUICIDE IS NOT ABOUT SEEKING ATTENTION
- A PERSON WHO COMMITS SUICIDE IS NOT SELFISH
- TALKING ABOUT SUICIDE WON’T MAKE A PERSON WANT TO DO IT
- IF A PERSON MENTIONS IT TO YOU, IT IS A WARNING THAT THEY MAY BE THINKING ABOUT IT
- TEEN SUICIDE HAS NEARLY DOUBLED IN THE LAST 50 YEARS
- NO ONE REALLY WANTS TO DIE; WHEN PEOPLE FEEL THEY TRULY HAVE SOMEONE TO TALK TO, MOST OFTENTIMES THEY WILL GET HELP
Let’s continue to love and care for each other, being each other’s support during this difficult time. Encouraging ourselves and someone else every day to improve our mental health will improve who we are and get us ready to be in the BLACK for 2022.
