In this fast- paced world, where everything is about the here and now, life has become cruel. Far too often, we are unable to distinguish the friends from the enemies…everyone pretty much has the same characteristics. Oftentimes, not knowing whom to trust, we love the wrong person too long and the right person not long enough. During the holidays especially, when those we love are not with us, we begin to feel the pressures that come with the holidays. Loneliness begins to set in and if we don’t gain control of it, a downward spiral begins.
Paying close attention to our mood is key in being able to prevent being trapped in what I call the BLACK HOLE. I call it the BLACK HOLE because I get sucked in and can’t get out. I can’t sleep, can’t eat, can’t get out of bed, don’t want to shower or do anything. All I can do is feel sorry for myself. The deeper I sink, the harder it is to get out. I imagine that this is similar for many people suffering with depression. This is why it’s important to have a support system. Having people whom you can count on to uplift one another can usually detect when someone is not him/herself. With a support system, the depression can often be curtailed before the BLACK HOLE takes effect.
Participation in Dying to be Perfect’s Christmas holiday in the BLACK is important because it brings people together to achieve the same goal…PEACE and COMFORT during the Christmas holiday season. With there being so many people suffering from failed marriages, broken relationships/friendships, lost loved ones, etc, working together to focus on everyone becoming WHOLE and growing THROUGH the experience instead of continuing to live in it gives hope. Starting off immediately with a positive outlook shows strength, character, and the desire for a new beginning.
No matter how we look at life, one thing we must realize is that Livin’ ain’t easy. For those with mental illness, the living is a little more difficult, so the support is needed. Let’s finish this DAY 11 with all activities to this point completed in order to begin tomorrow free from stress, in the BLACK and in a positive mindset as we get closer to 2022.
