I Love You, Too

Another beautiful day!!!! Bright, sunny, fifty degrees and the temperature, is still rising. Today definitely is starting out to be a great day. I have prayed, relaxed, taken care of my business, spent time with those who are important to me, basically, done all that I need to do for MY mental health. This is what has to happen for me to feel good, stay on course, and to be mentally well. Doing this allowed me to stay calm when several things threw me off course in no time flat; things that would have thrown me into a panic attack on a normal day. I’M TRYING…WE WILL ALL HAVE GOOD DAY AND BAD DAYS. IT IS ALL A PART OF THE PROCESS. On Day 18 of Mental Health Awareness Month, the word is Self- Love.

When we desire to have regard for our well-being, we are beginning the process of self-love. Self-love is not selfish. When we have TRUE self-love, we love ourselves and are able to accept our personalities. We develop a way to live with ourselves without becoming narcissistic or self-hating. Self-love is imperative in order to overcome trauma and heal inner wounds.

ITS MY WINNING SEASON!!!

Pampering ourselves is not necessarily self-love. We should already be loving and treating ourselves in a special way. Self-love is more about self-evaluation and understanding our inner selves in order to better love others and to show others how to properly love us. In addition, when we evaluate, we are able to reflect on the energy around us and subtract from or add to it. In order for self-love to really matter and be effective in our lives and positively affect our mental health, we must be honest about the part we play and be willing to apologize and fix it. Self-love is not being selfish, and it allows for us to correctly love others while simultaneously loving ourselves.

Throughout the bible, God constantly speaks to us about loving one another. Therefore, we cannot over do the self-love because we will lose focus on loving others. Romans 12:10 “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.” In addition, Philippians 2:3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.” Finally, Galatians 5:26“Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.” Far too many have taken the meaning of self-love out of context. It does not mean LOVE ONLY ME. It means LEARN TO LOVE ME BETTER, SO I CAN BETTER LOVE YOU TOO. Let’s all focus on self-love.

MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!!! Defy the Stigma!!

I am a recently single mother of four wonderful adult children. I love young people and have a passion for developing and motivating people. After spending over thirty years in the customer service industry, and my world was suddenly turned upside down, I found myself having to start my life over. Realizing that I could no longer maintain a healthy mental state while working with the public, I decided to use my passion for helping people and motivating US to turn our PAIN INTO POWER.
