Get Healthy

Time flies when you’re having fun! It may not seem like it, but the past twenty days have been amazing! There have been various twists and turns, ups and downs, but it has been amazing nonetheless. During every challenge I have remembered to use the tools of hope, connections, love, having faith over fear, praying, praising and standing still, to name just a few.

As I expand on those tools each day, one by one, I am amazed. I am actually proud of myself and how much progress I have made. I have faltered, yet I have not given up and continue daily to strive to stay in a positive mindset. The goal is for this forty day Lenten Journey to be a way of life.

Realizing that I cannot only focus on my mind and spirit, on Day 21, I’m trying to focus on my physical health. This, over everything, is my weakness. My discipline for exercise is lacking, and I fail to diet successfully. Beginning to focus on my overall health since the separation has been nearly impossible; within the last month, even more so.

When dealing with certain stress-related situations, it is common for a person’s physical health to decline. Certain conditions begin to develop as a result of our behaviors. In addition, a lack of sleep, lack of exercise, overeating, consuming too much alcohol, etc. may cause health problems. Just being sad and unhappy for an extended period of time, can result in physical ailments.

Focusing on our health adds a healing property to our Lenten journey. It allows us to focus on improving the temples God gave us. It affords us the opportunity to improve upon our whole selves. Having a better peace of mind puts us in a better relationship spiritually. We can then appreciate the need to care for our bodies, and take care of our overall health.

Let’s begin to eat right, exercise, go to the doctor and care for our skin. Our physical health and stress (mental health) are connected. We must therefore care for both our minds and our bodies in order to be healthy overall. LET’S GET HEALTHY!

I am a recently single mother of four wonderful adult children. I love young people and have a passion for developing and motivating people. After spending over thirty years in the customer service industry, and my world was suddenly turned upside down, I found myself having to start my life over. Realizing that I could no longer maintain a healthy mental state while working with the public, I decided to use my passion for helping people and motivating US to turn our PAIN INTO POWER.
