PROGRESS OVER PERFECTION

One of the things that struggle has brought me is insight. I can also attest that one of the things that my empathetic personality has brought me is the ability to see and appreciate the views of others. As this Lenten Journey continues, I am growing more in love with the woman I am more each day. I see and hear the pains of others and although I disagree with some things, I know that God has created us with differences. This is what makes us unique, and being unique is not synonymous with perfection. Just as I expect fairness and accept nothing less, those who have different views from mine deserve the same respect. For as long as I can remember, I sought to be perfect. Seeking perfection fueled my depression. Whenever I failed or had a setback, I beat myself up. Finally, I am aware of the need to see the importance of PROGRESS OVER PERFECTION.

For many individuals who suffer with depression and many other mental health challenges , setbacks are a trigger for depression. We fail to view our difficulties as opportunities. We are often hard on ourselves and fail to realize that there is opportunity in all things. On this 31st Day of Lent, it is time for us to change the way we see ourselves and others. We must accept that we will make poor decisions and have setbacks. In spite of our setbacks, we have to keep striving. What we strive for has to change. How we see each other must change. Today, let’s begin to appreciate progress rather than always seeking perfection. At the end of this journey, recognizing that positive change beats stagnation. When we are able to truly understand that God recognizes our growth, we can better appreciate the progress that we and others make. Only then will how we view ourselves and others change. Today, let’s begin by appreciating PROGRESS OVER PERFECTION.

Defy the Stigma!

I am a recently single mother of four wonderful adult children. I love young people and have a passion for developing and motivating people. After spending over thirty years in the customer service industry, and my world was suddenly turned upside down, I found myself having to start my life over. Realizing that I could no longer maintain a healthy mental state while working with the public, I decided to use my passion for helping people and motivating US to turn our PAIN INTO POWER.
