DARE TO BE DIFFERENT

In a world where everyone tries to look like what they see, DARE TO BE DIFFERENT.

In a world where people are afraid be who they really want to be, DARE TO BE DIFFERENT.

When the images around you show nothing but glamour and fame, don’t feel pressured to compete, you don’t have to be the same. DARE TO BE DIFFERENT.

No matter what people say, don’t let anyone lead you astray. Stand firm in what you believe; DARE TO BE DIFFERENT.

Even when you fight for what you think is right, DARE TO BE DIFFERENT.

Stand up for the underprivileged, give to the poor, leave the ninety-nine to save the one, and DARE TO BE DIFFERENT. Make your voice loud and stand out from the crowd, and just DARE TO BE DIFFERENT.

My being different is my way of thanking God for the gifts and talents that He has blessed me with. I use my voice to speak up for the injustices of those who have yet to find their voice. Even while those around me vehemently disagree, shun, betray, assassinate and misjudge, I pray cry, sometimes become angry, and press forward. No matter what, I DARE TO BE DIFFERENT. As I reflect on my struggles, I see a common factor is that too many people have yet to cast aside their insecurities. They are too afraid to let their voices be heard above the judgement and criticisms of others. There are too many who are still afraid to be their true selves and walk in their authenticity.

I imagine that for many, there is a fear of being alone and rejected; therefore, choosing to go along with the choices, decisions and actions of the masses rather than DARING TO BE DIFFERENT. For me, the thought of losing me in order to be accepted by others is far worse than walking away from those who cannot accept my differences. As I continue to reflect, readjust, reaffirm, rework and constantly recover, I realize that I am constantly changing and growing. I am forever learning and teaching. One thing I will never do is regret being different. I once looked at the LGBTQ community as doing wrong. After having great relationships with members of this community I realize that what others do that doesn’t affect me isn’t my business. We are all people who have a story and deserve love. Today, I celebrate that community.

With all that the LGBTQ community has been through, they DARED TO BE DIFFERENT. I admire them for being able to celebrate who they are…UNAPOLOGETICALLY. PROUD is what they should be for supporting one another and working together to get things done. We should all take the example from them and live in our truth. In order to achieve success, we must come together and celebrate our differences, and our truths and support one another…just be PROUD of who we are.

Martin was different, Rosa was different, Malcom and Ghandhi were different too. Jesus and the twelve were different. Guess what? YOU CAN BE DIFFERENT TOO! DARE TO BE DIFFERENT!

I am a recently single mother of four wonderful adult children. I love young people and have a passion for developing and motivating people. After spending over thirty years in the customer service industry, and my world was suddenly turned upside down, I found myself having to start my life over. Realizing that I could no longer maintain a healthy mental state while working with the public, I decided to use my passion for helping people and motivating US to turn our PAIN INTO POWER.
