God Said So

THANKSGIVING came, and THANKSGIVING went. Just like that, all of the hooplah and preparations, are over and done with. An enormous amount of time and energy was spent focusing on one day, and the world returns to normal. Today, we should be operating differently. I’m not saying it. GOD SAID IT.

Today, on Black Friday, far too many of us, will go from smiles to frowns, as we fight for the last item on the shelf, or to be first in line for a purchase. What should be the beginning of THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR, will begin to be, for some, THE MOST DEPRESSING TIME OF THE YEAR.

For far too long, too many people have allowed society to dictate their spending habits and overall traditions for the holidays. This trend, has ultimately, manifested into financial struggles, holiday depression, and family trauma. The holidays are about HOPE, PEACE, JOY, and LOVE; not material possessions. I didn’t say so, GOD SAID SO.

As we enter the Advent Season, I draw my focus on the meaning and purpose of Advent. The season of Advent is one of the most important seasons in the Catholic faith. As I have matured in my catholic faith, I have come to truly comprehend the importance of the advent season. As my relationship with God has deepened, I have grown to realize the importance of the virtues we focus on during advent, and how they assist me in preparing for the Christmas (my favorite) holiday. It is a season of candlelight, reflection, and expectation

There are four weeks in advent, and one candle that represents a principle for each week.  The principles are centered around the virtues given to us by Jesus. The circle of the wreath, which has no beginning or end, symbolizes the eternity of God, the immortality of the soul, and the everlasting life we find in Christ. Each week of Advent, we light a candle for the four principles we are in need of. In order to be prepared for the birth of Jesus.  These principles, or virtues; hope, peace, joy, and love,  all represent the true meaning of what Christmas is all about.

In order to prepare our hearts, minds, and spirits to recieve our Savior together,  as a family of God, we light the candles, and reflect on those things we need to rid ourselves of, in order to prepare for the birth of Jesus.

As I matured spiritually, I began to understand more, how advent and its symbolism played a significant part in my spirituality. As I continue to navigate through this thing called life, I have finally managed to find my inner strength to fight through my depression, and help others through the holidays. As I let go of the disappointments of yesterday’s Thanksgiving holiday, I am thankful nonetheless, for yet, another day. I look forward to all that God has in store for me. I am confident that this advent season will bring much needed change, and bountiful blessings. I will continue to pray for hope, peace, joy, and love for all. I know that in this world 🌎 today, without it, there will be no Merry Christmas. God Said So.

GOD LOVES YOU AND SO DO I.

I am a recently single mother of four wonderful adult children. I love young people and have a passion for developing and motivating people. After spending over thirty years in the customer service industry, and my world was suddenly turned upside down, I found myself having to start my life over. Realizing that I could no longer maintain a healthy mental state while working with the public, I decided to use my passion for helping people and motivating US to turn our PAIN INTO POWER.
