Together, LET’S HEAL

Happy Wednesday. It’s Day 16 of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

During my journey, I can honestly say, my experience with DV and Narcissistic Abuse, attempting to be a survivor vs a victim, has been a struggle. I know for a fact, that healing, is a process that never ends. Actually, healing can be both, a difficult and strange process, especially for those without a strong, emotional, support system.

What’s strange about healing, is that, the same thoughts, experiences, scents, words, actions, songs, dates, etc, that had no effect on you today, can trigger you tomorrow. Before you know it, you’ve found yourself back in the black hole of depression, that you fought desperately to get out of. What’s difficult, is that some of the same traumas that you are trying to heal from, have never been remedied. Imagine having an infection, yet never receiving the antibiotics for it. How can you ever heal?

My healing from DV has been the same. For over five years, I am still being financially abused, and mentally and emotionally controlled. This is far too common in DV relationships which end in divorce. Oftentimes, the relationships end in a fatality, because no one listens to the seriousness of the matter, until it’s too late. In addition, far too many people are insensitive, to the mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical needs, of others. I have realized through my own recovery process, that we cannot heal in the same environments in which we were hurt.

Whatever your DV issue is…PARTNER ABUSE…ELDER ABUSE…CHILD ABUSE…NEGLECT…SEXUAL ABUSE…FINANCIAL ABUSE…PARENTAL ABUSE…EMOTIONAL ABUSE, there is help. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Together, we can heal.

For days, months, and sometimes, years, you can do well with being great. Things in your life may, or may not be going well, and then BAM…YOU’RE HIT…AS IF BY A MACK TRUCK…AND EVERYTHING GETS DARK. NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU FIGHT IT, YOU CAN’T. No one seems to understand what you’re going through… SOMEONE REALLY DOES.

The truth about recovering from our traumatic experiences, is that anything, everything, or nothing at all, can cause us to spiral. Some of us will, and some of us won’t. Depression is a mental illness, and mental illness, similar to addiction, is a life long recovery. It is never simple, and it is a journey that requires assistance, patience, love, understanding, and a great amount of support. MENTAL HEALTH IS A JUDGMENT FREE ZONE. IYKYK

It’s important to know that we are never fully healed; but forever recovering from our traumas. When we are able to face them, and speak about them, the hole may become dark, but there will always be light. Let’s heal together, and be each other’s light in the darkness. With me, YOU ARE NEVER ALONE. # JUST BE KIND # YOU ARE LOVED

I am a recently single mother of four wonderful adult children. I love young people and have a passion for developing and motivating people. After spending over thirty years in the customer service industry, and my world was suddenly turned upside down, I found myself having to start my life over. Realizing that I could no longer maintain a healthy mental state while working with the public, I decided to use my passion for helping people and motivating US to turn our PAIN INTO POWER.
