Real Love Is God CENTERED

As I think back to just a few hours ago, I remember the scriptures centered around today’s mass. Sirach, 3:17, Hebrews, 12:18, and Luke, 14:1,7. What I remember, is how God makes it known that we are all equal, and we shouldn’t rush to be at the head, or in charge. Within these scriptures, we are told, that although we, as people, adore clout and titles, God sees us as equals. None of us is more important than the other.

Combined with my pastor’s homily, mass reminded me of why I love the people of God so much. As I listened to my pastor’s words, I remembered, why ministrylovepeopleserving, is so important to me. It’s not because of clout or title or fame. I enjoy serving others because it’s what we, as people of God, are called to do. I serve others, because I Love God.

Throughout the years, I have seen talent and gifts in others. Encouraging others to use their gifts, has allowed me to meet various people, love new and different people, and bring people from all walk of life, together…helping to build God’s Kingdom. It is impossible to do God’s work without sharing, loving, and seeing each person as equally important. The fact of the matter is, when working for God, we all have something to offer, and should be treated with kindness, gentleness and love.

Recently, in the midst of all that I am facing in my life, and in the midst of all of the struggles, I have been growing weary…disappointed…frustrated at the hands of God’s people. Contemplating giving up, God reminded me that I have to keep going. The love that I have for ministry, and God’s people, is the same love that God has for me…pure and selfless. I seek nothing from the love I give. I simply want to be in line with the Purpose God has for me.

Prior to church this morning, I was full. Now, I am refocused. I am ready to be emptied, so that God can fill me up again. You see, although I love ministry, I realized long ago, that in ministry, the work can be draining…the people, can be draining. The truth is, working with God’s people is exhausting, most times. Far too many, are seeking validation, title and clout. It has made me want to walk away. Today, however, I was reminded, that the intentions of others is not my business. I can only be sure that my Love is Real and God centered.

As we begin a new month, I believe that today’s word was perfect. As we approach Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, I am reminded of my experience with brokenness, pain, and rejection. I remember feeling outcast and insufficient. I remember not wanting to go on. Life had me feeling so low and devalued, that I couldn’t see that God Loved me despite my imperfections. While people shunned me due to my imperfections, God welcomed me fully. For a period, I was blind to all that He was trying to do in my life. Rather than focus on new opportunities and living, I literally wanted to die. I was blind to my purpose, and unable to see beyond my pain. What I remember most of all, is God saving me from myself. He reminded me then, and every day since…just as I was reminded today, that I MATTER…WE ALL DO, and no matter how we are rejected, alienated, mocked, or disliked by people, to God, we are invaluable…each of us. Because of this, we must operate with a pure heart, and be intentional with our love, regardless of the ill intentions of others. Only REAL LOVE IS GOD CENTERED. Think about it…if our service to others is not due to our love for God, then what is it for?

Have an amazing Sunday on Purpose.

Defy the Stigma!

I am a recently single mother of four wonderful adult children. I love young people and have a passion for developing and motivating people. After spending over thirty years in the customer service industry, and my world was suddenly turned upside down, I found myself having to start my life over. Realizing that I could no longer maintain a healthy mental state while working with the public, I decided to use my passion for helping people and motivating US to turn our PAIN INTO POWER.
